Registration Requirements

To secure your .ie domain, you will need to provide proof of identity and prove your connection to Ireland.
This can be easily done by supplying some documentation.

If you are a company that is based outside of Ireland, you are still welcome to apply for a .ie domain providing you can show you have a connection to Ireland, e.g. – invoices, marketing aimed at Irish audiences, etc.

I am self-employed

If you are self-employed or a business partnership and wish to register a domain for your business.

What you need

One of the following:

RBN number
Irish VAT number (registered in ROI/NI)
Tax clearance/correspondence from Irish Revenue Commissioner showing VAT number
Irish/European Community Trademark number
WIPO Trademark number (enforceable in Ireland)
Correspondence from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) (showing that you are registered for trading and resident in the island of Ireland)

I want a domain for a company

If you wish to register a domain for a registered company.

What you need

I want a domain for my trademark

If you wish to register a domain for your registered trademark.

One of the following:

Irish Trademark number
European Community Trademark number
WIPO Trademark number (enforceable in Ireland)

If you wish to register a domain for a registered trademark, your requested domain should be the same as the registered trademark. However plurals, numbers or additional letters may be accepted. Trademark numbers must be supplied with your application.

A letter of authorisation from the trademark holder must be supplied if you are a licenced user. If your trademark is not registered in Ireland, Europe or with WIPO (covering Ireland) then a connection with Ireland and commercial identity must be proven. WIPO trademarks are accepted but must include Ireland on the trademark.
